Description: In an area of northern Eretz Yisrael, in the high altitudes on the slopes of mount Lebanon, grows a forest of Cedar trees. In the Book of Samuel (Sefer Shmuel,) Hiram, the Phoenician King of Tyre, donates cedars for the construction of the Beit Hamikdash, the Holy Temple in Jerusalem started by King David. In this painting, the mist and fog that settles between the mountains gives a sense of scale, and of the strength of these trees whose roots grip the stones of Lebanon.
