Description: As a young man, Rabbi Avraham Shapira learned from such luminaries as the Chazon Ish, Rabbi Yitzchak Zev Soloveitchik, and rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank. His correspondences were written in his famous book, Even haEzel. In 1956 he became a Judge in the Jerusalem Beit Din (religious court.) He became the Av Beit Din (head of the court) before being appointed as Chief Rabbi of Israel in 1983.
